German Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ready made pie shell (deep dish if frozen)
  • 6 small-medium granny smith apples, peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450.
  • In large bowl, mix flour, sugar and ground cinnamon together. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of this mixture onto the bottom of the prepared pie crust.
  • Toss the apple slices in the remaining mixture, then layer them into the pie crust.
  • Pour the cream over the apples in the pie crust.
  • Bake at 450 for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 and bake for 60-70 additional minutes, until the apples are tender (test with sharp knife).
  • Cool and serve with more whipped cream.  Store refrigerated.
