Cheesy Breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups warm water (microwave for 30 secs for 110C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 1/2 cups (440 g) bread flour

Cheese mixture

  • Powdered parmesan cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Oregano
  • Basil or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Mix cheese mixture in rectangular 13 x 9 or larger baking dish.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 mins.
  • Add sugar, olive oil, flour and salt (last in order) to bowl. Mix until blended with dough hook.
  • Knead at medium speed with dough hook for 5-7 mins.
  • Place dough in oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hrs.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Use parchment on 2 large baking sheets.
  • Dump out dough directly onto floured board. Gently shape into large rectangle.
  • Cut strips directly from the edge of the rectangle, evenly dividing the dough into 12 strips. Each strip can be cut in half for thin crispy sticks, or leave bigger for bread-y sticks.
  • Roll each dough stick in a cheese mixture. Twist is optional. Stretch them out straight - they should be about 10 inches long.
  • Bake at 375°F for about 16 mins. Rotate trays if needed after 8 mins.
